Ghana Low Risk
- Generally safe for travel with normal precautions. Petty crime exists in urban areas — stay alert in crowded markets and transport hubs.
- Road conditions outside major cities may be challenging. Hire reputable drivers for intercity travel.
- Tap water is not recommended. Drink bottled or filtered water.
- Yellow fever vaccination certificate is required for entry.

Nigeria High Risk
- Exercise a high degree of caution. Security concerns in the northeast (Borno, Yobe, Adamawa states) due to insurgency.
- Lagos and Abuja are relatively safer but petty crime, kidnapping for ransom, and scams are common.
- Avoid travel to the Niger Delta region unless essential.
- Register with your embassy and maintain communication with local contacts.

Vaccination Requirements
- Yellow Fever: Required for entry to many African and South American countries. Get vaccinated and carry your International Certificate of Vaccination (Yellow Card).
- COVID-19: Some countries may still require proof of vaccination. Check destination requirements before travel.
- Malaria Prevention: Take antimalarial medication when traveling to endemic areas. Use insect repellent and sleep under treated nets.
- Routine Vaccinations: Ensure Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Typhoid, and Meningitis vaccines are up to date for Africa travel.
